Post # 3 Childish Gambino-"CAMP" November 24th 2011

WHO IN THE WORLD IS CHILDISH GAMBINO?! That's the question I asked myself after hearing his name floating around the past two weeks AND a couple of commercials from best buy or f.y.e. or walmart or whatever. BUT  the final straw was when I was asked by one of my guys on Facebook about Mr. Gambino..."OK THAT'S IT!! LET ME DO MY RESEARCH!" Thanks to Youtube and Wikipedia I REALIZED that Childish Gambino is Donald Glover from Derrick Comedy and  NBC's "Community". Wait so dude is a comedian AND Actor?!..YES. Wait he wrote for 30 Rock? YES...oh gosh...is this another "pet project" from some actor/writer/comedian like The Lonely Island? Using rap just for college humor and cheap laughs...NO!
Now for the REAL question...IS HE AUTHENTIC? and better yet, How is the album?

1. Outside-Biography rap at it's FINEST....this is something of the likes of Kanye West, Kid Cudi and Early Drake, but he pulls it off more seamlessly. 1/1

2. Fire Fly-After the lame hook, he starts to spit about the everyday stuff and you start to realize that (well for me)there are a lot of  things one can relate too..I respect it 2/2

3. Bonfire-I DON'T CARE who you are...this song WILL surprise you...he starts going off  Mixtape Weezy style..but you can't front he really GOES IN! Witty One-Liners, Metaphors, above par punchlines..Dope 3/3

4. All The Shine-Damn a Emo-Rap beat..i was about to skip it but decided to let it rock...Then the crescendo came in..whew....He really starts to hammer home the fact that he IS rapping about his life and Eff you if you don't like it..don't worry bruh i feel you..4/4

5. Letter Home-No! Childish NO! WHY ARE YOU SINGING!!!! Because he can...and he isn't bad at it either..its not overwhelming like say a Trey Songz but he can carry a tune...not autotune...i know i hate on boo loving alot but this song is too short to even care about it..Nice Interlude 5/5

6. Heartbeat-Damn i just gave you a pass on the singing bro...why you gotta keep doing it...then the beat gets techno and he get's all 808 and Heartbreak on this one ...this is one of those College Dorm Parties with the red plastic cups songs..damn he's biting Kanye's style or did Kanye bite his? hmmmmmm...5/6

7. Backpackers-This song is dope hands down, he's taking those rap purist to task..and when I say rap purist I mean those guys that believe he's too "Carlton" to rap...His beef is legit...6/7

8. L.E.S.-Another 808esque type...I was trying real hard to hate this song...but dammit it boll weeviled its way into my brain...I'm not a fan of the hook and bridge but the lyrics are honest and that's all can really ask for. 7/8

9. Hold You Down-Damn he's really killing me with this falsetto...ok he's starting to rap again...emo rap...but I related b/c i grew up the same way...8/9

10. Kids(Keep Up)-MORE singing, but im not mad b/c its not that boo loving type singing...like i said earlier dude can carry a tune...and sometimes...SOMETIMES you gotta sing to get your point across...don't worry it's just the hook..he does spit but its more emo girl stuff...oh well 8/10

11. You See Me-OK he brought it back to the rapping....DUDE CAN RAP! Its really effortless for him...what else can I say...crazy punchlines, witty one-liners...I will not front I WILL Bump this song this winter..catchy beat too. 9/11

12.Sunrise-Hipster/8bit rap...You'll like this song, but you'll never admit it to your homies. 10/12

13. That Power- It's pretty clear to me now...Dude is a lyrical killer...he ate this beat alive...but not in a Eminem sense..but in a sense that you finally showed you're older brother you can rap and he looked at you like Damn my little brother is dope..ok you can chill with me now.. 11/13

14. Freaks and Geeks-its not a Bonus Track but it should have been...i think this song is crazy.. and so does about 5 million other people on youtube. I wished he would have included this.

WOW...i really enjoyed this album...its really want I NEEDED to hear at this point...Let's be clear though, Many people won't give this album a chance because they can't fathom how he can be good at so many forms of entertainment.. For me personally, this is the dude that would fit right in with me and The Defective Clones Friday Night Cyphers @ Union Square(Peace to Stove and AJ)...and with that being said..listen to this album...you won't love it Per se but I  GUARANTEE you'll like the hell out of it. Beware though, THIS IS NOT A TRADITIONAL RAP ALBUM..so please have a open mind....The is "REAL" RAP..in the truest sense of the word.

Post # 2 Yelawolf-"Radioactive November" 21st 2011

Yelawolf  has gone "RADIOACTIVE". After signing to Eminem's imprint Shady Records earlier this year, it was pretty clear (well to me anyway) that Slim Shady had found his heir apparent and was ready to introduce the mainstream to his latest protege. Pretty high bar if you ask me. Em's meteoric rise to the top is something that EVERY rapper, black and white alike aspires to. One can only hope that the pressure won't collapse you. Blah, Blah, Blah....enough of that...How's the album LEEB?!

1. Radioactive Introduction-From the opening track "White Dog" tears into the pulsing beat and makes you understand that he didn't come here for play play and he is at least by the first track ready to burn your ears off. Great start off to the LP...1/1

2.Get Away ft. Shawty Fatt & Mystikal- Another stomach hurting beat..Then Yela unleashes that rapid fire flow that has been getting him so much attention in 2010 and 2011, his flow is clear and concise and you can hear every word, not like Bone Thugs or a drunk Twista lol...Shawty Fatt doesn't impress but MYSTIKAL is back, and its good to hear him again...glad he's home...another banger 2/2

3. Let's Roll ft. Kid Rock-The first "industry" song...no wonder its a single...its not entirely bad but it sounds kinda flat and souless, not the southern fried chunkiness that i would have wanted..2/3

4. Hard White (Up In The Club) ft. Lil Jon-This track is completely 50 Cent's "In Da Club" on steroids or in Yelawolf's case Crystal Meth...crazy track... Lil Jon adds that extra crunk like only he can...definitely ride worthy...3/4

5. Growin' Up in the Gutter ft. Rittz-Yoooo! This beat really sounds like somebody decided to record a 67 Chevy starting up and loop it into a sample..then mute it so Yelawolf and Rittz can ride over this one...Dope! 4/5

6. Throw It Up Ft. Gangsta Boo & Eminem-Wow, First Mystikal and now Gangsta Boo?! Yelawolf is really bringing back some South legends...This is the track I was waiting to hear. Mentor and Student finally about to let it rip on a song together....Yela goes in like he's supposed to, Gangsta Boo doesn't do much then the beat stops.............Then Em decides to drop an Atom Bomb..weaving in and out of triple time rhymes and rewind worthly punchlines...Proving that Yelawolf is still a young padawan lol...5/6

7. Good Girl ft. Pooh Bear- Not your average "boo luving" song...but any boo luving song gets no play in my ride so....SKIP!....5/7

8.  Made in the U.S.A. Ft. Priscilla Renea-The Blue Collar Worker anthem...this is that "built ford tough" song...a nice little ditty but nothing extraordinary....5/8

9. Animal ft. Fefe Dobson-At first was gonna skip this song off the rip b/c i saw Fefe Dobson's name but if you have a strong stomach like i have and are able to get the her opening hook, the song really lives up to his title....but the beat could have been wayyyyyy better...6/9 reluctantly.

10. The Hardest Love Song in the World-I appreciate the production...the song snuck up on me...something to walk and smoke to...7/10

11. Write Your Name ft. Mona Moua- From the opening chord and the "Justice League" tag line...I was like damn!...and on top of that the beat is a dead ringer for "Aston Martic Music"...luckily he isn't floss rapping on this and this actually turns out to be an ode to his home state of Alabama....whew...i was scared lol....8/11

12. Everything I Love The Most-I've never been to Alabama but if their producers are all like this...i need to at least go to a Crimson Tide game or something...i could have done without the sing songy hook...but the lyrics carry this one...9/12

13. Radio-The hook drives me crazy but the song IS dope regardless...he is giving it up for how rap USED to be and I respect that....10/13

14. Slumerican Shitizen ft. Killer Mike-Finally a Rock fused banger!...Both Wolf and Mike handler their business...Killer Mike still catching beats like Randy Moss...I love this...11/14

15. The Last Song-This is the middle finger to his Daddy song...he is basically telling him that he made it to this point despite of him...Nice closeout... 12/15

Now there are three Bonus Tracks but there are on the deluxe version...and im pretty sure they do not detract from the layout of the album.

As you can see there are 3 songs that i flat out don't like and will more than likely skip them every time...This album is a solid effort for Mr. Wolf and it should please many ears for the winter...My major gripe is that virtually EVERY song has a feature. I would have liked to hear Yelawolf  go dolo on more of HIS ALBUM...but hey maybe he'll do that on  Trunk Muzik 2 or something.

Post # 1......Drake-"Take Care"..November 15th ,2011

So, I've spent this WeekNd (Pun intended) listening to Drake's new LP "Take Care" the follow-up to his Platinum selling "Thank Me Later". As you can see Drake is enjoying the the fruits of his labor as witnessed by his album cover inserted above "ALL GOLD EVERYTHING SON!" lol...hey I can't fault the man he earned it right? BUT..I won't sit here and hate...b/c you guys came here to see how the albums is before you buy/download it, so here goes.....

1..."Over My Dead Body" sets the overall mood  and can be described in one word...ATMOSPHERIC.  If you were looking for a direct follow-up to Thank Me Later, this song smashes that notion and throws you directly into "So Far Gone" land...hopefully that was his intention...1 point for the Drakester.

2. "Shot For Me" is Drake at his Sing/Rap best, basically showing the new fans that he could do both to equal effect..The production carries this track though...Not impressed here...

3. "Headlines" I hear this song Ad Nauseam on the radio so i skip it everytime..BUT there is a nice little poem at the end of it.....OK

4. "Crew Love Ft. The WeekNd"- Personally this song feels like Drake himself is featured on it b/c That Weeknd guys is such a star lol...anyway Drake spits one verse so the song is over before you know it...as far The WeekND goes he kinda sounds like The Dream mixed with Jay Sean that Cash Money signed a few years ago...Oh Well.

5. "Take Care ft. Rihanna" The title song...and with that being said...IT SUCKS!! anyone that wanted "What's My Name 2" might love this song...as for me...SKIP!!

6. "Marvin's Room/Buried Alive" Another Ad nauseam song...if you have enough battery life on your phone or ipod fast foward it 5:45 to a real treat..."Buried Alive" features my man Kendrick Lamar...i really wish they would have spit together..that song would have been great!....good addition here.

7. "Underground Kings" Drake at his Braggadocious best...but many people will let it pass b/c that is his "swag"....Kinda O.K.

8. "We'll Be Fine"- Another Braggadocious banger lol...this song belongs on Birdman's LP...oh wait he's featured on this song?!...SKIP

9. "Make Me Proud ft. Nicki Minaj"- I don't like this song...its for the ladies...not me...theres nothing wrong with that but...i like to wear Timbs, not Male Uggs.

10. "Lord Knows ft. Rick Ross" this is the Obligatory "let me go in for 3 minutes str8 no hook"  I can't front on this song though...its tough...Ross wasn't needed AT ALL!..oh Just Blaze made an appearance

11. "Cameras/Good Ones Go Interlude"- This song will get A LOT of play in the strip clubs up here and the "Shake Joints" down south...the productions is great considering the lyrics are a bit mundane..Get your dollar bills ready for that stripper named "CHOKLATE" haha

12. "Doing It Wrong"..This song is 1996 R&B...and Stevie Wonder plays the harmonica..only good thing about this song...SKIP!

13."The Real Her ft. Lil Wayne and Andre 3000"- Drake continues the "Boo Loving" on this one and saves the rapping for Wayne and 3 Stacks...this song really shows how bad Wayne sounds trying to rap alongside Andre 3000...and thats the Year 3000 MEANING that he is at least 989 years ahead of  every rapper right now.

14. "Look What You've Done"- And Ode to his mother and grandmother i think....a nice little letter to them..

15. "HYFR ft. Lil Wayne" Drake really has some breath control...he snaps...i feel bad for Wayne he really should have been regulated to the hook b/c he couldnt keep up with the flow...

16. "Practice" this song samples and interpolates "Back That Azz Up" he is basically showing love to his Boss..again this song Isn't for me....its for your skinny jeans wearers out there...

17. "The Ride Ft. The Weeknd"  This song is dope... great production decent hook, good lyrics good closeout to the album proper.

18. "The Motto ft. Lil Wayne" *****Bonus Track*****  I hate this song...everything about it....but the kids will be doing the jerk.. and dougie and whatever dance they are doing..

19. "Hate Sleeping Alone"   *****Bonus Track**** Im happy this is a Bonus Track so i never have to listen to it...more Boo Loving.....

Welp...There you have it...my full and detailed review of  Drake's Take Care. personally i like about 3 or 4 songs..i don't recommend this album to True Hip-Hop lovers..you will be upset...for the casual fan...go for it!..the Kids (17 and younger) will love it..That is where his sales will come from...Take Care lol

Welcome!

Hey whats the deal?! I've finally decided after the constant badgering of friends and family to start up a blog. I'm always listening to music (mostly Hip-Hop). Though I'm not closed minded from the other genres out there, Hip Hop is just my favorite. So without further delay I bring to you..."LeebHATESRapMusic"...An offbeat(sometimes lol) look at some of the albums i listen to..ENJOY!
